Music is music

I don't like the fact that people judge each other on their taste in music. Music is beautiful because of its diversity and people are equally beautiful for the same reason. Everyone is entitled to their preferances and while I do believe that the music we listen to reflects who we are to some degree, we shouldn't always jump to conclusions. A lot of my good friends listen to totally different music than me and even though I don't always particularly enjoy what they turn on I feel that I don't have the right to complain about it.
What really irks me though is when people have the audacity to blatantly trash my favorite music without considering that different doesn't mean bad. The other day I had one of my good friends talking mad shit on some Zeppelin I popped on in my room and I had to bite my tongue to not go off on him. It's just disrespectful. I think it's reasonable to respect everyone's personal choice in music and it's important to recognize that a person's taste in music doesn't completely define them.

Everyone just needs to chill out and appreciate ALL music for what it is. It doesn't matter if it's not your type of music or if it isn't the most crafted style of music, it is ALL music. So respect others' preferances and don't turn your cheek to genres you aren't familiar with! There is a whole world of music out there waiting to be explored!

 One love :)

Why I love Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson (Brian Warner) has become one of today's society's most shocking, controversial musicians. Due to his elaborate stage performances, outrageous appearance and suggestive lyrics, Manson is generally viewed negatively. He is often associated with violence, homosexuality and criminal behavior, and many people choose to turn their cheek to him. It amazes me how quick people are to make judgements about something they don't understand nor choose to understand. The truth is, Brian Warner is an intelligent, well-spoken, and truly inspiring person.
I used to make assumptions too however. When I was younger I feared Manson and his satanic music. His dark make-up and bizarre charisma veered me away from his music until my Senior year of high school. What drew me to him was his uniqueness. He was creative, artistic, and original. After listening to "Anti-Christ Superstar" from start to finish one day, I became obsessed. I wanted so badly to know everything about Manson, his inspirations, his youth, everything. So I read his autobiography, "The Long Hard Road Out of Hell"and fell in love.
The book starts with a story from young Warner's perspective as he stumbles upon a drawer full of his creepy grandpa's pornography- which included elements of bestiality. From there on, Brian Warner tells reader's of his intriguing life of fame, sodomy, drugs, and love. I adore Manson's "no fucks given" attitude and his passion for what he does.
Point is, people need to stop hating on Marilyn Manson. Don't judge something you refuse to take the time to understand. Open your mind to the fact that just because someone is different doesn't mean they don't have anything to say. Manson's shocking stage performances and over the top wardrobe is simply a way to get people to listen to what he has to offer.  His lyrics may be dark and his shows may be explicit, but without it his message could not be made.

Marilyn Manson is just an example. You either like him or you don't. But he, like many other artists, undergoes unnecessary prejudice for being creative and original and expressive. I think every artist deserves a chance, and it's unfair to label and bash a style that you can't get into. Everyone has their own preferences, but I think it's important to appreciate ALL music regardless of how far out it is. Music is music and people need to stop being so over-analytical and judgmental of music they don't particularly like or understand.

That's my rant for the night, caio! :3
